Just a regular Saturday afternoon...

The last time I put Maya down for a nap, I tried something new. I put her in her crib completely awake with some soft toys and her favorite books. She read through them, showed them to her dolls and plopped down for a two and a half hour nap. Love it! I didn't think it would work. I've been doing the very naughty thing of rocking her to sleep and putting her into her crib that way, then tip-toeing out of her room. Tsk tsk. But, as her evening night-night ritual is becoming much too long, I'm trying this new plan. I tried it one night but it didn't work. So, we're going to try to get the naps down like this, then move to bedtime at night. I just put Maya down this new way again for her nap, and guess what, she's asleep! Wish us luck!

Maya has been busy. She had a nice, long playdate with her friend Neko. They're really cute together. Then we all went to visit Spencer and Cooper in the hospital. Maya couldn't go in because the hospital has these silly rules, no one under 14 unless they're siblings. Me: "So, if their 14 year old brother is slinging-snot-sick, and their one year old cousin is in perfect health, you're gonna tell me that big brother can go in? Pftttt." Anyway, she met a little gal in the hall just a month younger than she. They're too cute, aren't they???

Yesterday, Maya and I drove down to the new family's house and hung out for a while. Jared made a scrumptious pulled pork meal for them and I brought some cut up cucumbers, strawberries, angel food cake, and corn tortillas. I also bought a beer for Jay and a coke for Joyce. Heck, it's their anniversary tomorrow, they have to have some kind of enjoyment, don't they?! :) Happy anniversary guys, hope it's a nice, quiet one! Anyway, Maya about freaked out when she saw the babies, as you can see in the pictures. She just beamed when she peeked over the side of the bassinet. She is so freakin' adorable! She also was very giving, she tossed her water bottle, a book, a toy, and her shoe over the side of the bassinet. I had to intercept each item and tell Maya, "yes, my love, you are very generous, but the boys don't need your [bottle, book, toy, shoe] right now." Love her!

That's all for now, we hope to go see the boys more often, it seems as though new Mom and Pop were happy with the extra set of hands. Have a great week!

Some more cellphone pics, this one is from Jared's phone.
Saw this cool moped on the sidewalk and thought this would be a neat photo op.

beautiful blue eyed girl
Maya is really getting into drinking from a big girl cup.
Here she is with a very big cup of water.
Nevermind that she spilled most of it on the floor, she drank the rest!
Pointing something out to Mark, Neko's Daddy.
Two of the most adorable little girls you've ever seen!
Enjoying a little hand chewing...
Do I have a future crafter on my knees? I hope so!
In the hospital, I *think* I'm holding Spencer in my arms and Cooper
is in my lap. Correct me if I'm wrong, Joyce and Jay!
The little girl Maya met at the hospital, Rebecca.
These little gals were too cute together!
Noshing on an onion ring at Pat's Place.
She didn't really like it, she spit it out after this shot.
First successful "fall asleep on your own" nap.
Maya about freaked out when she peeked over the side of the bassinet.
It was hilarious!

She would shriek every time she saw them. It was too funny!
Pet the baby.
Sucking and holding tight. Little Cooper is sooooo adorable!
Maya mocking Spencer. She's started doing this thing when she
sees something opening its' mouth wide, she'll do the same thing.
Pretty funny.

You're wrong, Cooper is in your arms and Spencer is on your lap.

:)

You'll get it, just need to visit more often!! Yes, we loved the extra hands, thanks very much. And for the delicious meal. Very grateful.

Wow, your cell phone pics look better than my camera pics. *Hangs head in shame.*

I love the pic with Maya reacting to the babies. Her hands are in that "OMG!" position that people do when they are announced as the winner of a contest or something.

You know what's next, right? She'll be asking for a brother or sister of her own! :P
